I figured this was happening for a while, Gearbox did indeed pick up the Duke Nukem Forever title, and are planning to ship next year. http://kotaku.com/5628894/its-official-duke-nukem-forever-coming-from-gearbox-software
I do trust them, but I don't expect them to pick up a project that should have died ages ago. In any case, what exactly are you expecting out of this game anyway? Would it not be better for Gearbox to work on a game that could be potentially better? Say, Borderlands 2 perhaps?
What am I expecting from this game? A new Duke Nukem that I've wanted to play. No, I don't want them to work on Borderlands 2 right now, as they have had this since 2009, the same year as Borderlands release. They have 2 projects to finish, one being DNF, and one being Aliens: Colonial Marines. If you think DNF should have died a long time ago, then don't worry about it. If you want to give it a shot, then stop being the typical negative person towards the game and see it through and through, as I'm sure Gearbox will make it worth our time.
If you never played the original duke nukem's you really don't deserve a say in this matter, just a head's up. Glad to see something is finally happening. And we definitely don't need a Borderlands 2 anytime soon.
Ehhhhh... Saw the stream, looks like a mixture of Serious Sam HD and Halo. I played the first one and it was fuck awesome, Forever looks like generic console trash.
Game had a definite lack of Duke jokes about kicking some alien ass. CEO was all like THIS GAME IS COMING 2011 I PROMISE and then NO CAMERAS FGTS
