I'm back in Japan (yayyyyy). Won't be back for a month. Miss you all dearly, but will probably forget you with all the animus and stuff.
Believe it or not, there really is porn everywhere here. Like, the gas stations, the bookstores, and even the porn stores. And most of it is videos. And mixed bathing is a thing, but not very prominent anymore. The reason I'm here is to visit my host family from college. I spent a year my second year. And this internet speed is for ~$30/month
By Porn are we talking hentai, or as in actual full blown porn? I thought they were a pretty conservative society when it comes to those sorts of things, especially due to their laws and so on.
Nah, the real stuff. It's always taped shut, and you can only see the cover (which is usually more than enough). But it's very much so there, in all those places, within relatively easy viewing of children (by that, I mean, you kinda have to know that that stuff exists, and is in the back corner of the store. There's normally a sign that looks like a non-smoking sign, but instead of cigarette, the number 18, and in bookstores the genre is marked as アドルトオンリ (adults only). My host brother though tells me that they never card. The only law I know about relating to that kinda stuff is that the vaginas and penises are censored, period. There laws can't be too hard, because there's normally a rack (this is in porn stores only I think) dedicated solely to real loli. Like, often quite well underage girls in swimming suits, maid outfits, and I would assume other things. I'm assuming there's of course no actual pornography, but the purpose is pretty clear. Also, not only do they not card in porn stores, but they don't even look at you. In the only porn store I've ever been in, there was literally a wall above the counter, leaving maybe 10 inches of space to do the transaction.
