The Dark Knight has brief encounters with Black people.Although minor characters,it leaves a strong impression on the subconscious of the audience.Let's start with Gambol.Gambol is one of the heads of the mob.His first lines were,''Give me one reason why I shouldn't have my boy here pull your head off ?''This question, filled with violence,is directed to The Joker,a White man.The scene heavily implies The Black man sarcastically asking The White Man for a reason to bring him down.We all know what ''reason'' this Gambol character is implying which is the not forgotten years of slavery and oppression.Later The Joker kills Gambol which shows that how right and just The Black Man is,The White Man will always bring him down. Also note how Gambol refers to his bodyguard as ''Ma Boi'' [[no]] .Moving along now quickly. In the same scene where Gambol is unjustly murdered,we see The Joker has a black, young thug with him.He sides with The White Man making him a young Uncle Tom.For those who don't know what an Uncle Tom is,see here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_tom.And on to the black traffic cop, which may be the most important point in this case.He walks alongside the road, sees a truck illegally parked on the side of the road.He then tells the driver something to the extent of,''You move along just like everyone else''.The Joker then pops up from the passenger seat and blows the traffic cop away with a shotgun.Let's examine this scene a little more carefully shall we.The cop says,''You move along just like everyone else''.This is clearly The Black Man preaching,''Separate But Equal'' and immediately and unjustly getting put down by The White Man.Now for Batman. He uses the color Black as a symbol for Black people's oppression and the unjust way they're treated. He wants Black people to see the hope in Batman. He pays tribute and acts out when his fellow brothers can not.Harvey Dent is like Batman but is in denial of his love for ''The Brotherhood''.He's given the name The White Knight so he can swim more in his denial. We see events happen where half of his face is scarred. This kills his denial and is now out in the open, like Batman. One half of him fights for The Brotherhood and the other for The White Man.Harvey Dent, symbolizes most of us who share these same exact views as he does.Surprisingly,Lucious Fox has nothing to do with this rant, other than the fact it's Morgan Freeman but let's leave that for another day.And now I ask again,

The Dark Knight: A Modern Masterpiece OR An Exploitation Of Black Culture/Ideas ? It's both !
