Ok, so I have to use wireless, that's not an option. _________________________________________ Current comp specs: Dell 430 Mini Tower Vostro 2.93 Processor 1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTS240 P118N 8 GB of RAM _________________________________________ I need a good wireless adapter, the best money can buy cause Christmas is coming up Price range: anything up to $150 Current wireless adapter I'm giving to my friend and it's a Linksys Dual Band Wireless N USB network adapter. D-link or Linksys are good. (I'm using a Belkin at the moment, they're not that great, but this one has been pretty good).
Yeah, looks like I'm going with Linksys. Anyone have any certain models they suggest? I don't really care as much the cost, because its probably going to be the Christmas gift.
Actually, i wouldn't get a Linksys for one main reason: You have Comcast. I also have Comcast. The Motorola modems provided have some major compatibility problems with Linksys routers. I bought a Linksys router, and it would not work. The Comcast tech is the one who made me return the router to best buy. He reccomended this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833314042 So far i have had no issues with this Belkin router. It is easy to set up, and the only down side is, there is really no fancy options or anything you might find in a D-link. (I hate D-Link, they break on me all the time) Hope this helps
I don't need a router, I need a wireless network adapter for my computer because my modem already has a Linksys WRT600N for a router.
I use this for a wireless adapter...works great http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166025
Ok, so it cut out after a year I got it, but it came with a lifetime warranty, so I just sent it off and got a new free one!
So does anyone else have anything to say? Also, can someone please tell me if you can use a router as a Wireless Network Adapter???? That could save a lot of time and money...
No you cannot use a router as a wireless adapter. You can use a laptop as a wireless adapter or an xbox 360 or ps3 or wii. But for wireless look at that link, I use it and it works excellent, and the most important thing is its compatible with windows 7. A lot of wireless adapters aren't.
Hmm, that is a must, because I have Windows 7 on my new comp. ---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:14 PM ---------- Ok, here's the thing. I can go up to about $75 tops, but I don't want to be paying for something I could get cheaper. If no one responds to this, then I'll go with what Zeke said and get the $40 one, but if anyone has any product better and is <75, please share.
