I have decided to begin working on a full length novel. I can't disclose much information about it yet, but keep checking back for updates. I'm guessing it might take about a month or so, but who knows, I've never done this before. I'm testing myself to see if I can write an actual book. I'm not quite sure why, but I'm convinced it will be golden. Stay Golden Ponyboy I will, however, reveal the subject of the novel, War. Update 1: 3/9/12 - Decided on time period, location, and protagonist name, it's harder than you think. Update 2: 3/10/12 - Getting some preliminary stuff out of the way. Deciding on the main plot, made the story 1st person, how fictitious to make it etc. etc. There is a lot of work to get through before you actually start writing, more than I would have thought.
I'm writing a book, nothing to get. ---- I need input from you guys, i'm stuck whether to choose between a 1st person or a omniscient/limited omniscient point of view, what's your input?
Hmm, I think I would rather go with 1st, because I would like to keep some imagination rather than giving all of the information out.
With FP you're limited to your own visibility at the time which isn't a bad thing however you are pretty much forced to pump out every minor detail you can to pull the reader in. If you feel you can do that then go for it.
Then again even with a limited omniscient point of view it's possible to keep the reader in the dark on certain aspects. Either way keep us updated on your developments as you write.
If you want to surprise the reader with twists then a first person perspective can be useful. You can also jump between characters for added details.
If it's done badly it'll only confuse the reader. I'm not saying don't do FP, you just need to think these things through.
