Hard Server Information

    With the hard server right around the corner I'm releasing the final details in terms of changes and requirements for access to the server.

    Server IP: 96.44.144.134:27015
    Server has launched!

    Changes
    • Maps last 1 hour as opposed to 30 minutes.
      • RTV will scale accordingly with this automatically.
    • The server will launch with 10 slots to prevent splintering the community.
    • Updates will mimic the easy server where appropriate
    • To gain access to the server, you must have recorded times on the following maps on any season:
      • surf_lore
      • surf_MesaMines
      • surf_kitsune2
      • If you attempt to enter the server without these, you'll automatically be denied access.
    • Movement now emulates CS:S.
    • Gravity is 800 to mimic CS:S.
    • Hard server and easy server will share the same season
      • But will not share the same maps.
    With the launch of the server, all maps (easy and hard) will also receive a pass-over to rebalance cubes rewarded from each map.

    Lets talk Requirements

    Initially I know it's not exactly the easiest to find what the requirements and over time with an updated achievement system this will be made clearer, but to reiterate, as of this time the requirements are what are listed above. You don't need to have a "top ten" time or whatever, just simply a registered time.

    The reason for these requirements is I don't want players going in - especially newer players and getting frustrated with why they can't surf. If you can do the listed maps, you have a better shot of doing the maps on the hard server.

    Sounds good! It'll be decent for those bored of playing the same maps they find too easy, and it's a chance to get some properly hard maps for them to play!

    10 slots sounds about right, you're right in that you don't want it being 17/30 on Hard and 17/30 on Easy or something.

    Can we just make sure /csc works on launch, would be cool to have some form of cross server voice chat when custom channels launch too, but assume that's not possible :(

    I've already rigged it up so /csc should be golden from the getgo.

    I've been really looking forward to the launch of the hard server. Can't wait to get on it. I'm also curious about how much cubes you'll get from these harder maps. I'm guessing that it will be more than 10,000 cubes because that's around the amount that you would get from Kitsune 2. I'm saving up for a different aura so it would be nice if the hard server could speed up that process.

    Will depend how hard the maps are I suppose! While they should reward more I don't think it'll be a shortcut to suddenly getting 1 mil+ cubes in a short time.

    Just for the sake of fairness (and we're halfway through the season) we'll be temporarily excluding hard server times until the next season starts. Times will still be recorded - they just won't be considered for season points.

    You should automatically download them from the server.

    I would like to practice for the hard server, but with recent issues like the ddos attack that happened yesterday I would like to surf in single player as practice. Any specific console settings I need to ensure it replicated the hard server as best as possible?

    The DDoS attack (24h) shouldn't really have impacted the server; it didn't seem to when I was on at least. If you load a map in SP I'm not sure you'll get the teleport triggers etc to load correctly? Teddi can advise though. Stuff like stage selection menu will be server-side.

    I have noticed I can not rtv on the hard server, no matter how much time left there is.

    Also, the surf_cyanide on the hard server doesn't work since there is no starting zone, and time never starts counting, So you cant finish the map.
