I'll merge this with the other thread. ---------- Post added at 12:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 AM ---------- While I agree there are two different studios here, Valve south (ie Turtle Rock), many of them also work on the same projects, I believe Valve doesn't even staff more than 100, that includes their support team.
Anyways, because of the lack of media here about the game... Here's some pictures: XBox Cover: http://img3.imagebanana.com/view/8nnh0wdt/L4D2_EAx360PFTfront02.jpg PC Cover: http://img3.imagebanana.com/view/rlacyilf/L4D2_PC_Box.jpg PC Gamer picture: http://dl.maximumpc.com/galleries/l4d2/l4d2_pcgamer_sm.png Poster of First Campaign: http://img3.imagebanana.com/view/4ob2fr2h/L4D2_TheParish.jpg An Article on IGN: http://pc.ign.com/articles/988/988161p1.html E3 Trailer: http://betav2.gamersyde.com/stream_11137_en.html A friend and I do believe you can spot another new special infected in the trailer, at 0:25, there's an infected like none of the rest. Slight color to his skin, black pants, no traditional blood pattern or mark to his body like other infected. Given his screech/yell we think this is a rendition of the previously scrapped Screamer. An IGN Article: http://pc.ign.com/articles/988/988161p1.html To End this off, some Gameplay videos: 1. http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14352...fireammo_052809.html;jsessionid=2sjvp455t1tf0 2. http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14352...ryingpan_052809.html;jsessionid=3s1x740x547tw 3. http://uk.pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14352245/left-4-dead-2/videos/l4d2_gmp_gardenmaze_052809.html 4. http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14352...ensmoker_052809.html;jsessionid=117iibihho2uo 5. http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14352...saferoom_052809.html;jsessionid=7392mb9mhpjpq 6. http://uk.pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14352245/left-4-dead-2/videos/l4d2_gmp_alarm_052809.html -Another thing to note about Special Infected, the one seen in the trailer and game play is called The Charger. He is not a new tank, he is weaker than the tank but is deadly for those closet/corner campers. Picking up speed he throws anyone that gets in his way, and once he's on top of a survivor there is no getting him off unless you kill him. That's the only special infected Valve is willing to talk about right now, but can assure there will be more in addition to the old. Figured I'd get some media in here.
That was a short time between releases. Wtf? The conman has a frying pan, I was hoping the women did so we could make sexist jokes about her.
I've been conversing with Evander, and we think it's one hell of an elaborate hoax. I say expect more from Valve.
Honestly.... really? you really think it's a hoax? If it's not a new game, it's an update. The fact that the content and items are being created and done with? You can't honestly pass them up saying it's a hoax. EDIT: Not sure if you noticed... but the Blog was updated now. I'm still gonna stick with it being another game.
Looks good, however I disagree with some of the models and sounds. Mainly these are: -That black supermarket guy (sorry, I don't know his name, and I'm too lazy to figure it out) -The charger (News Top Story: Retarded Farmer gets zombified) -The quarantine suit zombie (reminds me of HL1 scientists) -The eye-patch zombie (seriously, I saw him once on a video) -Many of the new "battle" sounds sound weird, and are unfitting of a zombie game and the L4D soundtrack. I'm fine with new songs, just make them more fitting. -Some of the guns look odd, but their plausible Besides that, it looks great. The promises for it sound awesome, the AI director will be able to change routes, which means those familiar routes everyone takes, will change sometimes, creating much different gameplay. Also: I really, don't think this is a hoax. It's been announced everywhere, played, new weapons, maps, characters, and infected have been created. If this turns out to be a hoax, I will laugh so hard, my lunch might come up.
The Hazmat Suit infected aren't just for show. They are immune to incendiary rounds and fire, so basically you'll have to waste ammo on them.
Fair enough, it's possible to see change within these 6 months. A lot of the atmosphere in the first was changed in a few months before release as well.
It's a mindfuck. But, I'll eplain tomorrow why, I've basically been raging at someone to explain it into their brain.
I'll probably go "lolwut?" at it because it won't make any sort of logical sense... but I'll be waiting Mr. Gummi Bear
In short, if you can pick this up: Graphical Style Music Style Difference in models between new models + old special infected models Concurrent timing is bad Currently believe it's covering up a bigger announcement, ie ep3 Not saying it is a complete hoax, there will be a l4d, but look at it this way. the OB came out in 07. It's been two years. No Ep3. L4d, came out just 6 months ago, suddenly l4d2? What they've done can be made with real simple engine changes, it's either a dlc, or a hoax. Way it's presented At the E3 show, it was just shown. No conferece was given. Nothing was said about it. It was just there. And then it flicked off. Also, Firegun, wat?! Also, they use the source recorder and inhouse tools to create promo's, this wasn't created by that, and is thus evedential. Put together an elaborate 10 paragraphs and you have my answer tomorrow with more information. ---------- Post added at 03:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:05 AM ---------- In the end, I'm in simple disbelief.
Definitely a hoax, I mean tf2 was released... two years ago ish, and they obviously still make great gobs of money off of it (they still release updates etc), same thing will happen for l4d until they need to do a major engine upgrade, and then they might release l4d2 with a schwack of cool new features, and different characters etc.
Graphical style, I didn't notice much a difference besides the guys sleeves. Music Style, I didn't pay attention to, I will when I get a chance. Difference in models of old special infected? From the Gameplay Videos, the only actual old Special Infected I saw was a hunter. Is L4D 2 really that unbelievable with Episode 2 came out a year after Episode 1? L4D doesn't have a story to continue like HL2, changing the setting to a completely new state (including AI Director 2.0, new special infected, 5 new campaigns all compatible with co-op/survival/versus) seems to be reason enough for an expansion. L4D 2 was in fact given at a microsoft press conference. Firegun, they did take the Incendiary rounds a bit literal. The idea is there, just poorly executed, not a fire gun I would also like to quote some information from a podcast: Link to the podcast - http://cdn1.libsyn.com/rps/20_The_R...29&nva=20090602195129&t=091b87e691f23c2a836e2 Some Highlights:
