they can locate your phone because it emits a ping every now and then telling the towers where it is at least I think they can locate it..unless its anon for privacy reasons. Best bet call them ASAP

I bought the 3Gs just last week, now its gone. First time something has ever been stolen in my life, besides little stupid shit like like a CD from 1995.
It can be tracked. But it's up to them if they'll do so. Just get them to disable the phone, once it's disabled it's effectly a worthless brick. Got insurance
AT&T does not insure the iPhone. I have warranty through Apple though, and they pretty much said "File a police report, and we'll stay in contact with the local police". They can't give me the location of the phone due to security reasons, but they can give the location out to the police. /me dial 911
From experience I know there are plenty of apps in the app store and cydia that allow you to track your iPhones location. Of course I'm pretty sure you had to have these apps preinstalled before it was stolen.
yeah... When i called AT&T they were like "Yeah, you can track your phone, just use the Family map on AT&T.com to track your phoned down." I was like sweet, How do i do that?, Then she stated: "First: Sign up here on the site. Second: Install the app on your iPhone" lol, wtf... really. Then after the conversation she said "If you need any more help just dial 611 from your iPhone for more information".... lol.
It will cost 500 dollars for another iPhone 3GS. Because i 'Broke' my contrct when my phone was stolen. See, since i just got my phone, the 2 year contract was renewed. Well, just 2 weeks later it wa sstolen, and for me to get another phone, i would have to break my contract and then buy the phone through AT&T without the upgrade price. So all in all, it would cost 500 dollars. Any idea's? Would it be possible to buy one from ebay, and then retrieve my phones sim card from AT&T and put it in the new phone? Thanks
I fail to see how having the phone stolen is breach of contract, you never willingly lost it or gave it away. I advise you look at the contract first and see what it says about theft. If nothing is there, or they don't retain the original contract, they're actually (not sure here btw, as US law differs) required to give you a refund, as they're not providing the service.
