Ok...So I got a new laptop for Christmas...Finally got around to installing Steam and whatnot. Anyways, I have loaded up TF2 and it plays fine. However, after a few games of that, I installed GMod. It loaded, went to the title screen and just before any icons could pop up, my screen goes black. Then, my computer tells me that hl2.exe has stopped working and it's looking for a solution to the problem. Needless to say, it found so solution. The game then exits itself and I try again. Repeat process. I have reinstalled GMod. Reinstalled Steam. Restarted countless times. And it's all getting a bit old. Soooooo...My question to you is, can you help me fix it? Comp. Specs. And which updates would that be? Because I beleive I am up to date with most, if not all, of them... Links please?
DirectX 10, and if that doesn't work, try going to launch options, and type in -dxlevel 91, and if THAT doesn't work, try -dxlevel 80.
Elaborate more on "launch options" please... I am unaware of 1. Where to find it... 2. Which. (Gmod, Steam, Comp, etc.)
Even if you got it to work, I don't think # Mobile Intel GM965 Express Chipset Would run it, I have the 945GM card in my laptop and it's unplayable unless you just stand in a small room looking into a corner, unless yours is a large upgrade. (That is with everything on lowest settings on smallest res too).
That is basically your problem. I have yet to try my latptop with Gmod. Oh, and stop going BLAME VISTAOLOLOLOL. Vista was the same as XP when it was first released. Somewhat shitty. Now after SP1, that was fixed. Now shut the hell up.
