Open Hack Days are events hosted by Yahoo!—sometimes with other partners—in which participants are encouraged to create web applications in 24 hours ideally using one or more of Yahoo's APIs or open-source libraries. They normally consist of a combination of structured talks and unstructured 'hacking' time, often run overnight and normally conclude with a hack demo session with prizes for the best hacks.

Basically you are in a competition on trying to make a system do what it is not supposed to do.

I would of said "So, it's like using Linux to make a good program that won't fail after 10 seconds after it was created"

She can do anything below the belt >.>

It sounds like yahoo inviting people in to have a go at hacking, sounds like fun but its actually a Fail-Safe operation.

In other words, they want you to hack it so they can un-hackable.

Yeah, it's a trial system basically. Free way of doing it, so they don't have to pay you.
