I have 2 gigs right now, i used to have 4 gigs, but i took it out cuz they broke. So, i just got windows 7 64 bit, should i upgrade to 6 - 8 gigs of ram? Will it make a huge difference?

It'll make an obnoxiously huge difference, your PC will start up in seconds, games will improve like never before.

    Do it.

Go with 16gb of ram or nothing. But yeah. Our gameserver is currently running with only 2gb of memory and it's painfully slow to use (host screwup I beleive).

I run 4gb but I can go up to 8. However, I've got DDR3 2000mhz RAM which is extremely fast.

You won't see a difference between 4 gig to 8 gig.

I disagree, the difference will be noticable, especially with games and overall performance.

As I'm sure we all know by now, my Alienware broke, and I'm getting a desktop soon (hopefully on my birthday which is Nov 10) and I could send you the 4 gigs of ram that was in it if you want... ?

By the way you want to buy DDR3 memory what mobo you have?Because has your describing it now its seems that you have a mobo thats only takes ddr2 since you had 4 GIG Of ram,and having 4 gig of ram in the new mobo thats supports I7 is impossible since its only supports tri channel. But if you have the 790I mobo than go ahead buy ddr3,or else fail. Sorry for double post.

When I bought my mobo about 3 months ago, i bought 4 gigs (DDR3) of ram to go with it.. Then a few days later, 1 stick of it broke ( Yes, i know.. i should have rma'ed) Ever since then I was to lazy to move back up to 4, So i just decided to either go big or go home. So i went with 8 gigs.
Although i'm greatly bottle-necking my PC, as i have an older 8800 gtx. Maybe i'll upgrade soon. Although, now i'm looking forward to getting the ram in. I use CAD quite a bit, and right now with 2 gigs of ram, it takes for ever for autodesk to start up, and compile a project.

I actually quite more than you in computer and I know what I'm talking about specially in computers.THE ONLY MOBO THATS SUPPORT DDR3 AND DOESN'T HAVE A 1366 SOCKET IS THE BOARD 790I,SO I'M GUESSING HE DOESN'T HAVE A 1366 SOCKET MOBO SINCE HE HAD 4 GIG OF RAM,BUTS That' IMPOSSIBLE IN A MOBO WHO HAS SOCKET 1366 BECAUSE ALL MOBO WHO HAS A 1366 SOCKET HAS TRI CHANNELING RAM,NOT DUAL.THATS WHAT I MEANT.BING BING BING.
