I've been looking at getting a new laptop to play games on. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on laptops that are good for gaming. I've been looking at the Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q701 and the Alienware Area-51 m9750 17-inch. I'd appreciate any suggestions you have. Also, I'd like to spend not much more than $1,700.
EDIT: I origionally said the Alienware m17x, but really it was the m9750 I was looking at.

Just make sure you spend enough, also certain hardware you may not be able to replace in the future like the graphics card, so make sure it's a good one as you'll want it to work in a years time with the latest games.

I dunno any in specific really but just make sure it has WindowsXP really as Vista is fail on laptops, learned from experience.

Well if he i.e. wants to use it while on a plane or something he hasn't got much choice. :)

I bought a laptop first, then a year later I bought/made my main computer, as I was bored of the laptop under performing (i.e. it can't even run garrysmod), I wasn't aware when I first bought it I wouldn't be able to upgrade it in the future so it has a really bad graphics card :/

Dont get a laptop unless you must because you cant upgrade it and gets hot after alot of gaming. I regret getting a laptop i thought it would be real nice since at the time i was traveling alot but its pretty useless being portable since im not traveling as much now :/ Get a desktop.

Yeh, I have both a laptop and gaming computer. Don't get me wrong laptops are nice to own, you can obviously take them anywhere which is also handy. But for the same price or often cheaper you can buy a bargain gaming computer which is better. I mean.....$1700 is a lot of money you could buy a farely good laptop and gaming computer together, for that price.

    Alright guys. Thanks.
I really want a laptop for when I travel places so will probably get one anyway. Although after reading what you guys said, I'll probably get a cheaper one and not really use it for gaming. But I definitely need a new desktop at least. My current one is crappy and barely runs. :p

What? You don't speak Dutch? neither do I Maybe you should learn it, so you won't have to look for translate buttons on websites.

    1. I didn't know people actually said fiddly. (Just pointing it out)
    2. I'm fine with fiddly as hell. I recently took apart my Xbox360 and removed the disk drive. That was fiddly. But it works now, and I dodn't have to pay Microsoft $100. ;D

It's an actual word. But laptops are worse than xbox 350's, due to the fact that laptop bases are never higher than 6cm with standard laptops (and 6cm is being generous).

Yeah but the Xbox was still a bitch to take apart and put back together correctly.
